Roman Catholic Mexican Martyrs Beatified

On November 20th, the Vatican beatified 13 Mexican martyrs of Roman Catholicism. These martyrs were killed in Mexico during the 1920s, when Roman Catholicism was struggling with the Mexican government to grow. In the formal process of becoming a saint, beatification is the final step.

The service took place at Guadalajara, Mexico. Pope Benedict XVI spoke through satellite to people in the 60,000-seat soccer stadium.
