Sri Lanka Conflict

For many years now there has been tension between the Buddhists and Tamils (who are mostly Hindu) in Sri Lanka. The Buddhist persons make up the majority of the country, while the Tamils are a minority, and the Tamils desire to have a separate part of the island of Sri Lanka. The problems are between the government of Sri Lanka and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LITE). LITE is considered a terrorist group by several nations, and within the country of Sri Lanka there have been many people killed. Efforts have been made to move toward peace, but there is still conflict and fighting in the country involving LITE.

The latest news regarding the tension between Sri Lanka government and LITE can be found at BBC News
